I live and work in the rural, rolling, windswept and little known farming country of the Solway, between the high hills of the northern Lake District and the enclosing Cumbrian coast. I love to paint the freedom and shape and scent of hills, moors, low lying dales and hidden meadows with their abundance of wildflowers and beasties, steep hills and shady paths through the hawthorn laden with white blossom. The ebb and flow of colour inspires a different reaction in me every time. Equally exciting is the scene of everyday life, peopled with characters and buildings and the mechanics of life, the farms and the factory chimneys.
I mainly paint in oils or acrylic or inks, with an abstracted expression through which conveys the emotional charge that initially fired my imagination.
I currently work with a number of local artist groups, such as Art People, (formerly West Cumbrian Artists), Eden Valley Artistic Network and Cumbria Printmakers. My work is on display at the EVAN Gallery in Penrith, the Fountain Gallery in Wigton and Percy House in Cockermouth, along with other galleries in their seasonal exhibitions and local shows and fairs.
