I live and work in the rural, rolling, windswept and little known farming country of the Solway, between the high hills of the northern Lake District and the enclosing Cumbrian coast. I love to paint the freedom and shape and feel of hills, moors, low lying dales and hidden meadows with their abundance of wildflowers and beasties, with shady paths through the hawthorn laden with white blossom, or heavy frost. The ebb and flow of colour inspires a different reaction in me every time. Equally exciting are the scenes of everyday life, peopled with characters and buildings and the mechanics of life, the farms and the factory chimneys.

I mainly paint in oils or acrylic or inks, through an abstract expressionism which conveys the charge that initially fired my imagination.
